Hi Guys

awhile back I went out with my wife for here first 4WD outing and while we pulled over to let a fellow offroader by,well the edge was closer than I thought and the Surf sort of fell over and down the hill,we pulled it out and drove it home 150kms or so,I was not sure if I was going to keep it and get it repaired, but in the meantime I figured I would get my HJ61 finished up and let someone else have the Surf.

Here is the really cool thing, this Surf is registered as a 1980 here in Quebec, they made an error when they registered the truck and I never bothered to have it corrected,so its easily imported to the states. It is a JDM RHD vehicle and all the running gear will slot into a USDM R22 4 Runner if you prefer to transfer the running gear.

The truck has less than 70,000 Kms on it,when I imported it ,she only had 34000K's on it,runs perfect and I had a new clutch put in less than 2K ago and had the top painted due to paint fade(sort of a mute point at this time),this was my truck and I hoped to drive it for many many years.

The only items I pulled out were my radio and the wheels and tires (which I installed in the cruiser).but she does come on her original steel wheels and she will fire right up and load on a trailer in about 3 seconds.

This is an LN131,not an LN130,so very simple 3L motor and a no power windows and locks ect, just Air Con (Ice Cold) and the basic stuff. She was a great truck, zero rust anywhere and the frame looked brand new! I hate even describing the truck because it pisses me off that I didnt take better care of it!

here are a few pics,I have a bunch of others, you can probably fix the body if you have someone to replace the roof section,I dont know anyone who would do the repair well,so I will pass it on,if I did,I would probably just have it fixed.

This is the ugly side that got quite bent, and of course the worst is in the back.

Here is my wifes side ,not that bad but dont tell here that!

And here is the front, really not bad once you take off the damage multiplier (which saved some stuff really)

This is a 12Volt ,2 Battery starting systems Zero cold start issues with this system (Factory),a great truck that I bent by not paying attention:doh:

Price: 5000.00 CDN

Let me know if you have any questions, and as mentioned no issues getting this into the US whole.

Thanks

First, sorry about the roll, that is bad luck.

However, this is a bit misleading:
"Here is the really cool thing, this Surf is registered as a 1980 here in Quebec, they made an error when they registered the truck and I never bothered to have it corrected,so its easily imported to the states. It is a JDM RHD vehicle and all the running gear will slot into a USDM R22 4 Runner if you prefer to transfer the running gear."

It is very well possible that upon import someone actually checks the tags, not only the title. Then the buyer is in trouble, will likely lose the vehicle and be fined quite steeply.

It is probably better to sell this for parts.

cheers,
Jan

Hi Jan

I would think the buyer would probably use for parts, but at least you have the entire truck to use vs only a motor and gearbox then have to figure out everything else. I know I could not find a guy who I felt could repair the truck properly.

But the unit is titled as a 1980 and entered Canada as a 1980 insted of 1988,I think the broker when they filled in the paperwork was a bit sloppy and the error just stayed on the books,I never bothered as I had imported this one for me.

On another subject,I am pretty sure I still owe you money! For that I am very very sorry and will get this done today.
Very poor manners on my part

Best

I dont think I can just drag the vehicle across the border and then sell it to you.

All you have to as a resident (and the importer) would be to file the proper paperwork on the US side once you bring it in.

Its not that difficult and if you want to import it as a complete vehicle or for parts only,it registered as a 1980 so no issues with the import.

I dont think I can as a resident of Canada import to the US for sale in the US a vehicle, but you as the resident of the US can.

I am only 60 miles north of the border at Champlain NY.

I can email or fax you all the paperwork and you can look into the procedure for getting it into the US.

I brought it into Canada from Japan and that was super easy,if you are only going to use it as parts, then come on up and cut it up the way you like and then its not a complete vehicle but simply parts.

Let me know

Just because the vehicle was registered as a 1980, does not make it a 1980. If the date of manufacture is not over 25 years old, the only way it could be imported to the USA is as parts.

Hi Guys

There is no date of manufacture stamped anywhere on JDM vehicles,it is based on the Chassis number only.

As such when CANADA CUSTOMS did the paperwork when the car arrived here in CANADA it got registered as a 1980,as mentioned I did not care as it was not going to be sold but for my use.

For every intent and purpose this vehicle is a 1980 in every document in North America. That being said,I did not offer the truck as a complete ready to drive truck,if anyone so choses to import and repair for road use this vehicle,by all means be my guest,I did not have it repaired because I could not find a person who would do it the way I wanted at a price point that was affordable to me.

For use in order to convert a USDM vehicle, you could not ask for more or better, its complete,it runs, and it can actually drive around in order for you to be sure its perfect,vs getting a spray washed diesel motor on a pallet!

The chassis looks and is almost brand new with the factory black paint everywhere.

So to recap,I wont fix it to drive to the states to sell it,(which legally you cant do,with any car or truck unless the paperwork is done)as I am not a resident of the US,I cant ask you to drive to Canada and sell me your car here,it would never be able to get registered without the customs paperwork:doh:.

If I fixed the truck,I wouldnt sell it either, since I cant replace it due to the fact that Im in Quebec, and now we have a 25 year old rule on RHD vehicles,so if it was fixed,it would not be for sale, period.

Not sure what else I can say,if you are looking for a complete vehicle, this is it.

If you perfer me to simply ship you it as parts,no problems, once paid,I can have the vehicle dismantled as you like, in order for it to be imported as simply parts.

Thanks

Paulo

sorry maybe I misunderstood---does vehicle drive fine? Have a body shop fix it to legal limit and then I will meet you on USA side?

Just to be clear, the vehcle drive absolutely perfect, will start with a 1/4 turn of the key even in minus 15.C,it tracks nice and straight, and nothing rubs, even all the lights still work.

As in my initial post, after is rolled ,I drove it home approx 200 Kms to drop of my wife, the drove it again to my shop about 50 Kms away to put into storage.

Bloody shame anyways
