I have an 03 1HD-FTE with 50K on it and it measures 28cm from top of standard 16" rim to the guard lip directly above in a perpendicular line through the axle.

Forgot to mention, this is stock height, no bullbar, no winch, standard batteries, although a bit of extra weight down the back. It should be similar to your I expect.

Thanks 100TD, I cranked mine up today as when I put on the ARB steel bar it looked too low, 280mm is where I left it so that should be about right. I thought there was some calculation that Toyota had where you subtracted the height from the bottom shocker bolt from the diff centre height or something, cheers Brett.

uHu, I actually used SEARCH and found those two articles, problem being I went and measured centre front axle height and bottom shocker mount height and subtracted B from A and came up with 40mm when it said 75mm in the spec, to get the extra 35mm I would have had to take the body to rim height up about 100mm which to me didnt sound right. plus have you tried measuring the centre of the front diff, not easy, when a measurement from the guard to the top of the rim is much easier. Also I found cranking up the torsion bars easy, just used a bottle jack on the bar L piece to take the weight off the bolt and tightened with a normal rachet and socket, easy. Then take a drive around the block and re-check.

The "A" measure says "Front Spindle Height" (or similar), and can be measured roughly from a level floor up to the centre of your hub cap.
The "B" measure is up to the "Lower Arm FRONT BOLT Centre", which is at the lower A arm, at the front, towards the centre of the vehicle. (Might look like the shock on the drawing, but the text is right).
Both of these points are easy to get to.
If you come up with a result (A-B) which is smaller than spec, you actually have to Lower the front. (More is Less...)

Try again. Study the illus. and take the Measuring Points description literally. Takes only 1 minute, 13.56 secs, incl. calculation.
