My parents picked up their new car today. Good buy old Heep hello new Toyota

So why this big push to scr*p these old cars...is it for the environment...or to get the economy moving?

Either way, I looked at some of those 'engine seizing' videos...made me sick to see a vehicle that could still help someone out for a few years to come, getting destroyed like they are completely worthless :frown: They should have taken these vehicles and donated them to various local support groups.

Good that your parents benefited from the program, if I was thinking of buying a new car soon, I'da done it to.

Its two fold. They get some of the old larger V8s off the road and get the economy moving.

You can't turn in anything over 25 years old, so northing before 1984 so at least some of the cooler older cars don't qualify.

I was speaking with me neighbor who is the service manager at Fox Toyota and he said the only thing the dealership has to do is run "Liquid Glass" though the engine to kill it. Then they sell the clunkers to K&R auto salvage for $150. I guess they can only keep $50 and have to return anything over that to the customer.

May be a good time to head over to the local pick-a-part and see if they have any old cruisers.

They are sending the scrap to China I believe.

I shoulda bought stock in "Liquid Glass" LOL
