Good day to all!

Have a 2007 fortuner and would like to do some minor mods. Just some questions.

1. I plan to increase the size of my tire from 265/70/r16 (i guess its around 31x11x16) to a 275/70/16 (31.5x11x16 i think). Has anyone tried using this kind of tyre? Did it scrub against the walls/guards? Vehicle is not lifted atm.

2. Has anyone modified their suspension system on their fortuner? I plan to change mine to ironman gas nitro shocks. How are their shocks? We also have bilstein and OME shocks here in the Philippines but the cost of their shocks is more than double compared to ironman.

3. Also have a 85 bj70 cruiser and i plan to change my tires from 31x10.5x15 to a 32x11.5x15 or a 33x12.5x15. What about your tire sizes? What is the biggest tire you can put without having to change gearing? Atm, the cruiser has a 2" lift and it runs on the 4.11 gearing.

Looking forward to the replies. Thank you all and happy trails!

I'm not sure you'll find a lot of experience with the Fortuner on this site. It's closest US relative would be the 4Runner although I don't know if the suspension parts are interchangeable. Most folks in the 4Runner and Tacoma circles look at the 265/75/16 as the best alternative size (for height) to run on a stock truck -> it's about 32x11.

If you don't get any good info here, search around for some Toyota 4Runner forums and see if you can find comparative info there.

For your BJ70 you might want to ask that question specifically in the 70 series forum. But my 40 does fine with stock gearing (4.10) on 33 inch tires and I think most Cruisers are fine with this setup. Once you get up to 35" tire or larger than I think gearing issues become more pronounced.
