Up for sale is a 1986 Toyota 2.4 liter, 4 cyl, '2L' diesel engine, pulled from a 4WD pickup. The mileage is unknown. It's probably rebuild-able in it's current shape, but that needs to be determined by a machine shop.
History- The engine had been locked up and sat for some time, then eventually pulled, dismantled and has sat in covered storage for the last few years. All the parts are there to put it back together, but no accessories are included.
Condition- The crankshaft looks pretty decent, some minor scratches but no deep scaring. There is some rust at the front of the crankshaft. The cylinder walls don't have much of a lip at the top, cyl #4 has some rust and a bit off scaring, but the other 3 cylinders are in pretty good shape. The camshaft and the rollers looks like they could be replaced, some of the rollers are pitted pretty good.
Included- I've been told everything is there to re-assemble the engine and far as I can tell, that information was good. The injector lines are there, pistons, rods and rod caps, crankshaft main caps, harmonic balancer, timing sprockets, etc. Factory engine mounts are still on the block. Also included is a new timing belt and a partial gasket kit.
General information- This was a non-turbo engine. If you wanted to turbo-charge it, your best option would be to use factory parts (like the injection pump and turbo) from a 2L-T turbo engine. You could put a turbo on without the turbo injection pump and turn up the non-turbo pump, but since it does not have a boost compensator, it may not run as efficiently as possible and will probably burn excessive fuel in low boost conditions.
Price is $750, will not part anything out. Located in Western Colorado. Will crate & ship at the buyers expense, there will be a $100 crating fee for materials. Can work with local pickup. Best way to contact me is by email; grgardner at gmail.com
