Has anyone done any towing with the new FJ Cruiser. I have travel trailer I would like to pull that weighs apx 5000-5500 lbs. Is the FJ going to step up to the plate on this one? And if so, is an automatic transmission better for this than the manual? Help, I am girl!

the trailer towing capactiy is listed at 5k....you are right on the edge. I would make sure that if I was towing that much weight that I had a properly adjusted electric brake controller.

Ask the dealer.

The engine on those fj's can definately pull a lot, but if your going down a hill or have to stop in an emergency, you need to control it.

Auto should be ok to tow, probably easier than a manual, many autos have a higher tow rating too. But maybe you need a transmission cooler installed for that purpose. Again dealer question.

Same as everyone above, but just keep this in mind the dealer always under rates the ability of their trucks..... They usually can tow way above what their posted limit is... that being said make sure you considering stopping the rig with that kinda weight and you will be fine..

consider your insurance coverage. if you exceed the vehicle's 5000 lb rating i doubt the insurance will buck up if something happens.

Yea, make sure it has the towing package. The big thing is a bigger tranny cooler.
