Hello y'all!
I've gotten to the point in my life where I need to haul the family and our Airstream, Tradewind 25. (650# tongue, #4200 MT weight).
I have been towing it just fine with a 2gen tacoma v6 auto with WD and HD springs. However, I was looking to get a more luxurious vehicle for long trips that can tow and haul a family of 4 with dogs while still fitting in the garage.
After researching, I came across the GX460 and love the idea of it, at least on paper. Unfortunately, there are way more forums that discuss my Taco's towing abilities than the GX. Also, most people seem to turn to the bigger 570, sequoia, LC, expedition, tahoe, blah blah...
I've test driven the GX and it seems very solid and well built and would go for the luxury trim, which has the rear air suspension controls for towing.
I like the do everything attitude of the Tacoma. Not looking for an overkill DD. I like the decent size for tight trails and garage/ efficiency when without a trailer, but can easily do it when tasked just not as good as big brother 570 or sequoia...I get that.
How is the towing capability?
What is the towing like (feel, power, hunting for gears, overheating, swaying at speeds, the swing door hitting the propane tanks, etc.) I'd love to hear the experiences?
Do you feel I would be maxed out from your experiences?
