So I'm sitting here thinking up stuff to think about and the idea comes to mind to put together a tow rig. :hmm:

The idea came after I recently acquired this short bus from our kids' daycare. I use it for my live sound side business to haul around equipment - and church will be using it for Habitat builds.

It's a 1991 Chevy 6.2 diesel with 70k. I got it into DMACCs diesel school; they went through the engine and it purrs like a kitten. It also has a fresh coat of paint. So all I need now is the trailer. You guys have any input?

Chris

grrrrr, I'll get this photo this down someday.

Awesome!

The old chevy diesels aren't the best motors but they will definitely get you there and back!

Input? sure:

Chop off the people hauler portion behind the cab and make it a flat bed.

That would be about the worst thing to do since it is multi-purpose. But for a tow rig only, sure.

Isn't he asking about a tow rig?

* edit- oops! I guess I missed the part where he was keeping it as a multi-purpose vehicle.

yep, the bus is going to stay as is, I need to get a trailer now for the toy

Put away your sawzall Doc...

I love the sawzall!

I was thinking that that short truck would just fit nicely on a little flat bed diesel.... and look pretty going down the road!

:)

PS, I need a good trailer too. Let me know what you find. I'd like to tow the 80 to some events with my Ford- just in case.

lol, couldn't you just imagine a bunch of habitat people riding around on a flatbed.

Put a 6-12" lift on it and some 40" tires and wheel the heck out of it! Problem solved, your "tow rig" is now capable of "towing" out the 80 series... ;p

Benefits:
1. It would look cool as heck
2. The HFH folks would know that you mean business when you show up.
3. Who else drives a lifted shortbus? :steer:
4. You can sell your mini-truck and make some cash.

Well it's a year later and I made the idea into reality. :p

It pulls really well on the flat 60mph easy; going up a hill takes some patience...some Jet A might change that...

Update: A friend and I put on a 4 inch high flow muffler and exhaust Wednesday to help it breathe a bit better. A neat side-effect is it sounds awesome! :hillbilly:
