Familiar with the area? I grew up and still live in Whittier. The thing is I don't have to drive the freeway everyday to get to work... it's 10 min. down the street from my front door at home, to my office door at work...

I've been spoiled for 29 years. :)

I grew up in Cerritos and have spent some time in and around Whittier. Awesome living near work! Especially in L.A. where the fwy's suck. My wife is 5 minutes from work here in San Diego and she loves it.

I'm no insurance wiz, since USAA gives me such great rates, I've never shopped around, but I would check with a few other carriers for sure.

I pay around 1800 for my 3 vehicles see sig. $750 deductable and max coverage on comp and liab. But I live in a town of 4K people 1 hour away from St. George Utah that only has about 60K people. Bet that makes a big difference. The 350Z is the expensive one of the 3 to insure. It is around $1000 of the $1800 total.

USAA can't be beat, if not for price for the customer service, second to none!

Not trying to run your show, but a $100.00 deductible is way low, save yourself the money and go to $1000.00. The money in your pocket is better placed than letting the insurance company sit on it!

I pay $950.00 per year on a 2001 full coverage same as many have quoted above with a $500.00 deductible. I also live in Hudson County, NJ where the car theft rate is very high.

well i don't know about you guys but i keep my deductable at 1000. Anythign smaller then that is not worth calling insuranace for and besides when was the las ttime you had to use your insurance for something small? Well so going with this terminalogy i pay around 1800 a year for the follwoing

2001 Corvette Z06
2002 mercedes Benz C320
lexus 1998 LX470
1993 mazda Miata LE
2003 kawasaki Ninja ZX6R

and both me and my wife are on the policy and i have 2 tickets on my record in past 5 years. If i had a clean record i was looking at 1200 a year for all of them.

I went to insure.com to check the rates and liberty mutual was the lowest. Shop around is the best suggestion i can give you the highest rate i was quoted was 3k for all my cars.

This is what I figure. When does one need to pay the deductible? When you get in an accident and it's your fault or the guy who hit you has no insurance and is broke. So my reasoning is, go w/ a higher deductible (like $500 or $1K) and use the money you saved to armor the heck out of the LC...ARB winchbar in front, kaymar tow bumper in rear (sticks out more than the Slee, so probably better body protection from rear-ending), sliders, big tires and lift. After a couple of years, the money you save on insurance premiums will have paid it all off. This is what I did to my '86 after I cut the collision. Not only that, but your rig is also trail ready, so you kill two birds with one stone!

There is not much point in reportin anything to your insurance unless its over $5,000, because they will raise your insurance over time to quickly make up for anything less. I have $1000 deductible but might even think of raising it more if it had a substantial impact on my insurance cost. I inquired and it does not appear to... it looks like $1000 is sweet spot.... like $500 was in the '80's (inflation....)

Okay, I went down to AAA to get some comparisons... I forgot about the annual dividend applied as a discount each year... they don't include that when they provide quotes. Here's the best deal from AAA:

100/300/50 Policy
Land Cruiser (1K deduct) = FULL coverage
Jeep XJ (Primary Driver) = BI + PD + Med + UC

$1,878
-$245 Current Discount
$1,633

or could be...

$1,878
-$384 20% Discount
$1,494

The agent was uncertain how discounts are calculated.... several factors apply including long term membership and policy holder. So if it's a percentage based discount I'll be close to what I was expecting. The only problem is I have to keep my XJ.

Thanks for all your feedback .... now it's time to go test drive a LC!!!
