I'll assume most others running a 2-piece driveline experience this...there was one instance in TX where it was really noticable, and another this past weekend at Apple Valley...shifted between 1st and R, and the rig literally moved 4-6" from a passenger-side lean to a drivers-side lean (settled the DS front both times)

Then, since I had popped a rear pinion, I was backing into the garage on Sun evening with FWD only, and had to have C drive while I counterbalanced off the PS cage to keep the rig level....

I believe this is the result of the carrier bearing on the front driveshaft, and the torque from the transfer case combined with the direct/solid mounting of that bearing creates a significant torque load on the rig. There is only minor engine shift in 2wd.

Question is, is there a way to mitigate this, or is it just something to get used to??

When I have different sized tires on my rig (loading and unloading on to a trailer) I will torque to the DS as well.

I ignore it as a general rule, but I am a hack ;)

don't be such a puss woody! :crybaby:

just live with it.

Driveshaft bind?

You gotta remember the cheap fawk is still trying to polish course spline turds..........

I can't see how the carrier bearing could transfer a rotational force, since the shaft should spin freely through the bearing. If that was the case, every vehicle with a 2-piece driveshaft would torque over noticably...

Perhaps it's just a combination of the auto and your soft suspension?

Two peice half shalfs are used to reduce torque steer. It's a different application, but I wouldn't think it would cause your problem.

My soft sprung auto torques over like a biotch.

I wonder if your 4 link cancels some of it out in RWD and 4WD

Woody I have a 2 piece driveshaft with the auto in the Pig and haven't noticed it. But
my springs are stock.

:) :) :)

brakes and auto trans, been driving that manual a long time???

Buddies raised about 3"s in the rear, had to time it getting in or out of the garage or it would hit.

Ok, soft springs also contribute.

my street cruiser does it in low also. SOA.

counterbalance :) what a sight, LOL.

take it out of low? seems to be not as bad.

Might reprogram the ecm for a lower idle. I did that so I would not drive through the brakes in 400:1.

cryo'd, coarse....no bind (4-link in the rear, remember...)....C wheeled all morning, I was doing the climbs/ledges in the afternoon, one I was on was a perfect wheelbase hater, couple of BIG hops and....crack!

Fine spline going in this weekend, had a couple on the shelf.

My new limit strap (for more limit) wasn't in, having 5" of droop instead of 2" at the center didn't help the issue.....
