850 acres of everything from scenic to "no one has ever run the whole thing." There's even one trail with a bounty on it if you finish it! Perfect for everyone from Nick to Nolan
The property is near Salem MO for those who want a map reference. It was oroginally bought by a big developer out of St Louis, slated to be folloded halfway up the ridgelines, and tunred into huge expensive "lake tract homes." Developer did not do his geologic homework: the soil is too porous to "lake-i-fy!" The unflooded terrain consists of lots and lots of Ozark ridgeline runs, big boulder creekbed runs, loose soil and boulder infested hill climbs, side hills that had the inclinometer reading 35+...wow! The very well thought out network of trails covers all kinds of terrain and levels of difficulty. It was developed with a 3D map and model-able software that lets you overfly the property, zoom thru canyons and draws and creek beds... Kewl, and thanks to our governement for the satellite imagery You will never, ever cover everything this venue has fo offer in a month of weekends, let alone an event weekend, and they are constantly building new trails.
The current owner, Ron Maximoff, used to compete with a loosely cruiser based rockcrawling truck. Our crew showed up at just about dark...he said "want to go play now, or in the morning?" Duh! Instant night run, complete with carnage, we got back to camp around midnight, got up early, and ran til waay after dark on Saturday. Sweeeet!
He runs a gps treasure hunt every month: show up, get co-ordinates to a clue. The clue is another set of co-ordinates on the property, at which a cash prize is cached. Neat!
Look for pics from guys and gals with cameras at the TornadoAlley Clubhouse, and new thread in TLCA Events. We're gonna go with last weekend in Sept to spread us out from Cottonland's Oct event by a few weeks.
