I think we should setup a competition who can top off most and report back. That would be about right for those still wanting to do this…
I nominate you to be the judge of this contest. Seconded by anyone? Make sure we have quorum!!!

Only time I drove it till fuel light came on it said 3 miles to go, I chickened out and as I was pulling into station it went on. I then put 23.56 gallons in.

It is very well documented on this board and verified by my experience that the low fuel light comes on very early on these trucks. You have roughly 50 miles of range after the computer goes to zero.

Yep, that is the root cause of this discussion.

Bottomline do not top off or if it really stops early it is either the pump (so fuel up at another pump next time and witness the same) or you already deteriorated your system by previous abuse ( clearly the case when you claim you can top off another 2 gallon and have that “experience” already).

Yea, I think we are saying the same thing. I have never topped off my truck. My point was if he is putting in 24 gallons right after the low fuel light came on than he is overfilling.

Well I verified my experience too and I Dont think I have a 27g tank, nor do I think I get 6mpg more than computer says.

As I stated earlier I run pump on slowest setting, and stop at first auto shutdown, so no overfilling.
