Cool video. Thanks for posting that. I guess since Clarkson is British he's going to come to the conclusion that the RR is superior but I disagree (as would most here I am sure). Speaking from personal experience having had both, it isn't even close - esp. in the reliability department. How many late 80s, early 90s RRs do you see driving around versus 40s, 60s, 62s, 80s, etc.?

Rumor has it that Clarkson drove a V8 100 series as his personal vehicle even as he talked up the newer Range Rover. ;<)

Jeremy Clarkson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Well Clarkson actually had both a diesel 80 and a Petrol V8 100 series.

He has also though had about 5 Range Rovers.

Also one Jeep Grand Cherokee

He knows that the Cruiser is superior to the RR in reliability and says it in just about every comparrison i've ever seen him do.

On comparison my thoughts are
Reliability.... not close.... Cruiser all the way

Offroad Ability....... Depends on lockers or not, seen countless shows from Oz, South Africa, UK and here from that era that shows if the cruiser doesn't have lockers then the RR is better off road but if it does then the Cruiser gets the nod

Interior.... not even close the RR is made from much nicer materials and much more comfortable even for someone my height

Those G-wagens are starting to grow on me though.

My neighbor is selling his if you want to check one out. He's a Toyota / Lexus master mechanic as well.

2002 mercedes g500 AMG

If I had that kind of cash I wouldn't be in a bad mood all the time :D

Plus I like the 80's models.... about the only diesel imported SUV that was worth a damn that you could buy in the US

I love a G however I always think I could spend $3k or less on the 100 and have lockers and the best of both worlds. I will stick with the 100.

**The additional HP would be nice thou!**

Good video to watch as I fell asleep last night. I disagree with Clarkson end review in that particular video, but in other top gears he admits that the LC is better due to the reliabiity factor. The truely epic LC Top Gear episode is

I know if i was in south america I would chose a 40 or 70 series over a RR any day.

I thought about and researched the g-class before purchasing my LC. In the end I did not chose it due to the cost for luxury SUV options and its off-road capabilities compared to the LC.

enjoyed part 2 of the series....You've been defeated by a piece of bamboo? what kind of design it that? :flipoff2:

What was that? A Hilux or a SAS's Pickup?
Looked pretty bad-ass, either way.

It was a sas heavily modified truck (there was a thread somewhere with its specs)...... I would have thrown the even, I feel very cramped driving those smaller trucks for long distances
