Okay today while moving my 63 around I notice a small piece of the hinge where it mounts to the inside. From what Jim posted it lookslike there may only be the one hinges ans the rest it just a strap with a couple of bends. The lit makes it look like a hinge on the inside top. Having had my 68 for a few years I know how many times I undid the clamps that held the driver's seat in the front. Lifted up the front of the tool box lid and dig something out. This strap would have made that very hard to do. May be a reason why they are so hard to find. I believe the one I had may have been broken from someone bending it out of the way once to often.
Looking at these latest picture I have a idea. Looks like it has felt padding like the straps that hold the gas tank. I believe I have a one piece set somewhere. Should be long enough to work. Now to see I find where I stored them.
looks good can you post a photo of the hing side?
Will do tonight. I took a couple of pictures before covering the vehicles up. I would also like to see the underside of that strap to see if it has felt attached to the underside like tha gas tank straps. Not sure where I stored all those but will post a picture if I find them. Not sure which cruiser had the single piece instead of the common two piece that is used a bolt to tighten the straps. FJ25 maybe?

that is exactly what mine looks like
