I've got everything I need to put the OME "J" lift on our 80 and thought this weekend might be a good time. Should be a fairly easy HAMOM, just doing the drilling for the Landtank brackets being the most difficult part of the task.

I'll be glad to offer a great lunch from the Davis grill and as many beverages as you can swill down. I'd be up for a relatively early start time.

So, if you've got some time to burn before Mother's Day, want to get some grease under your nails and enjoy a feast of burgers, chicken, brats and  just let me know if you can come by.

Sat 5/9, 8 am at the Davis compound, Cary NC...

We'll be in New Bern. Dang, close to home and a chance to hang out for an easy HAMOM... and food to boot. Oh well, y'all pour a lil' out for me... :grinpimp:

Whats another weekend working on someone cruiser, maybe I can get a hand solving a small issue on the 55. Jerry I have a set of spring compressors we can use, makes the job much easier, trust me after doing 5 now things begin to come natural.

I would drive to do this if it wasn't my wife's birthday weekend. Dang

I can most likely help. The wife's brother has a graduation party in Raleigh Saturday afternoon...but I should be good to help in the AM.

Go ahead and start hitting those bolts with some lube!!

I totally trust your advise, I'm a neophite and willing to learn. One quick thing, will I need to be getting some extended brake lines? Don't have those on hand...

You've got to have your priorities and that would surely be one of them...

Maybe I'm stupid and don't understand the task but I can't imagine going into the afternoon. Bring your "nice" clothes and you can use the guest bedroom/shower to freshen up of you want...

I'll start hitting the key nuts/bolts with some lube to get things ready...

Well since your daughter is going to be wheeling after school every afternoon once the lift is installed :whoops:, I would be sure to get those extended brake lines installed ASAP.

But in all seriousness the barke lines can wait if you don't have them, you will have enough to get droop out of the axle for install and they won't be an issue till you go to flexing it down the road, I'll let others speak up for the material of the new lines, I am partial to stainless but I have heard that some prefer the standard lines just longer.

I reserved the right angle drill to pick up tomorrow afternoon and I'll be going out to pick up a fresh set of bits. The ones I have would need to be carbon dated for me to really know how old they are and are very tired.

And, I forgot to mention Greg, of course I'll help out with the 55, just bring it over also...

So are you going to be putting tires on this weekend as well. J kit with 265's could be interesting.

Not yet, we plan on burning off as much of the rubber it came with first. I ran my FJC with the lift and stock tires for quite a while. I'll imagine that it will look like its on stilts but we will put that purchase off for a little while.

That is until I talk with Ramon's "connection" and pick up something just a bit bigger...

He will give you a good deal, but is an independent tire dealer so the big box prices are actually really already low due to volume. Just don't want you to expect too much, given the circumstances. You won't be able to find better customer service for sure. Problem is, he's in Havelock.

Maybe true but I like to support the "little guy" if I can...

It would make his day for anyone from ONSC to get some tires. Good luck getting out of there quick because he'd introduce you to everyone there (including customers) :) I have good in-laws!

Jerry, I have a serious karma deficit to deal with here else I'd come over and help this weekend; plus I have a bunch of work-related work to do Sunday.

For the karma deficit, I mean: 4x4Labs bumper time, Outer Banks time, URE time. I need to accrue some karma points this weekend. :D

No worries Joe. I understand how important it is to keep things good in the karma department...

I assume we could also buy/install the tires at their New Bern location? Then again it looks like only 15mi difference. I might give him a call about a set of 305/70/16 BFG AT's...

Jerry, I'm a definite maybe for tomorrow. I will have a 2yo helper in tow. He's good at carrying off wrenches. lol
