I am planning on relocating a toilet, so I will be plumbing in a new stack.

My question is, how far away can I put a vent? What size vent can I use? The old house of course has 4" vents gong up in extra thick walls.

I would check your local plumbing codes. It should have a formula to determine the distances/size.

Venting can be tricky - you need to check your local code.
Off the top of my head, I think you can go as small as 1.5" for the vent diameter on a toilet and up to 6' from the toilet to the vent. But again, check your local code to be sure.

or do like the PO did here at my shack and say "f" it and not put one in at all :rolleyesfor the closet thats called a 2nd bathroon where you need to set onto the shower stall to close the door that only opens half way as it hits the crapper  .
