I have a 3B diesel and have replaced the head. Somewhere between my house/truck/and head shop one of the metal lash caps that sits on top of the valves is missing. I'm trying to avoid ordering one from overseas and waiting a week. I can't find a US source for lash caps for 9mm valve stems. When going to partsouq.com I find 2 different diagrams for the valvetrain on my year model 3B. One diagram shows lash caps and the other does not show lash caps. The part numbers for valves and rockers are the same on engines with or without lash caps. There is some debate on forums (for other solid lifter engines) on whether lash caps are needed or not. Looking at the diagram it would appear that not all 3B's came with lash caps.
Does anyone have a 3B without lash caps? Do I need lash caps if I can adjust the lash properly without them????

I have just viewed a couple of you tube videos of lash adjustment on a b/3b that don't appear to have lash caps?
