I was told the other day that my chattery here makes the place feel like there's more "action"...

Anyway, I have a RHD SAFARI SNORKEL for a 70 Series, for my 77. I'd like to hear some opinions whether you would put the snorkel on it or not.

I've been holding back because I do not want to drill holes in the body panel :princess:, some days I think I'd give it a go, other days not so much. As far as function of a snorkel, absolutely none, No snorkel needed for what I use this truck for, anyone want to shoot the s*** about this?

I like th look and the function for gravel travel. But a clean truck looks good too. I wouldn't add one for looks alone as I @Deny would beak me for it.

In my opinion snorkels:

1) make a truck / owner look like a poser if the truck doesn't show obvious signs of trail use.

2) can save you a lot of grief if your trail use includes deep water (intentional or the result of encouragement from an otherwise helpful passenger).

Others will talk about cool air and keeping out dust, but I think Toyota was pretty good at locating and designing the intake tract on these trucks.

I never put a snorkel on my 62, I think I will put something on my pig down the line. I've had to pull a waterlogged air filter a couple of times.

If Erick agrees, I think we have a consensus...

And yes to what Rock Doc pointed out- that Toyota design for the airbox is well thought out; with a lift and large tires, who's really fording water that deep often, if I would it would be by a severely stupid mistake/accident or a natural disaster.

Ts point on the gravel roads is also important and probably the main reason to go ahead with a snorkel install; cooler and cleaner air in dusty situations.

At this point the 77 is more of a queen than a rig; The 77 will live another day without a snorkel.

I'd say 99% of my water crossings don't need a snorkel, so highly unlikely it is required equipment, even for me where I can find deep water, but of that 1%, 99% reason I needed the snorkel was due to my own stupidity and could be avoided ;) But like Tyler says, I am firm believer of form over function ;) make it look good, put the snorkel on, the chicks will dig it! Ask me how I know, only reason I am married is my now wife saw my snorkel. She seen me on the street and said, "that is one sexy snorkel, you want to date?" It was the best mod I ever did to my truck!

so it's true, the girls like the snorkell. I always thought it was the elephant trunk. HAAHAAAHAA - DAD JOKE.

I personally believe I have busted my snorkel more than it has actually been used. Three new snorkel screens. Deepest water I’ve been in is over our ankles in the cab. So I think drive slow through water,no snorkel. Way cheaper.

My 77 isn't getting a snorkel. It sports a 8274 because every daily driver should unless you're a metro and never leave pavement.
The 71 will have a snorkel but no winch until I figure out if I want to ditch the super robust plastic one I have for it.
Unless you're going to use it I wouldn't install it. Orange's snorkel only gets put on for wheeling trips where I expect deep water.
