Kind of a chatty question.

"He who dies with the most toys wins"

I love this saying but don't think it is working for me right now. How do you decide of which toy to get rid of? My list of toys has gotten a bit to long and I just gained another. The list is "long and distinguished". Half of these projects are not even done though they are all running driving machines and I hope to have them all done by the end of the year. I have until I finish restoring the 73 FJ40 I just got to decide but something has to go, maybe a couple of them. First step is to realize I may have a problem. Or do I?

I think I'm discouraged that I can't drive all of these becuase I'm in school full time now and the wheeling sucks in driveable distance down here so they mainly just sit.

DD (97 ford)
Reliable Expidtion and most functional of the cruisers (lx450)
FJ43 (I haven't even driven it yet)
FJ40 (going to be a sweet build up)
56 ford truck. Great driver and gets better mileage than my DD.

I JUST DON'T KNOW. Greg and John go threw quite a few vehicles...how do you do it?

If they are not costing you for storage and only for registration and inspection Not a big deal. If they somehow keep you or your family from having the basics of lif then yeah, there is an issue. There are a lot worse problems than having 4 vehicles. Ever see some of these people on the TV that hord and cant get around in their own house?

I find that tinkering on vehicles is a relaxing thing in most cases. It is also rewarding in many cases as well.

I remember being in school and feeling the exact way your feeling. I am in the same boat you are.

I have
F250 daily driver
FJ40 current money pit
65 mustang sitting in the garage
Of course theres my wifes H3 which is really not my toy but it is still a vehicle that sits in the garage.

The biggest problem that I am facing right now is that as you already know I am gong to have to PCS in the near future. So I have to figure out how to get all these vehicles to the next duty station.

Oh by the way, I might have convinced the wife to let me buy a fully built buggy :bang:.

Hey you only live ones right? :meh:

Nope not really costing me anything to store them right now and not really effecting our day to day life (except the time I work on them)

Del I hear you. The Army makes it even harder. And you are moving to the same area as me (just under 2 hours away) and I'll tell you, unless you are willing to drive 4 hours every weekend to a private park or 7 to the nearest national forrest, you will never get to use your toys.

I guess I'll see when I'm done with the FJ40 and how it turns out what I will do. I just want to keep them all and drive a different car every day:steer::steer::steer::steer:

Never too many toys.

I had all of these and more while i was in, and it was the reason to buy my long trailer. New toy there also. We moved to Benning and back in a 2 year time frame with 5 vehicles. Trailer to the rescue.

I would keep them for awhile Jason. I go thru this about every 4 - 5 years and the wife talks me into keeping them even though 2 only get driven and 2 - 3 times a year here in Nam.

Not having a place to wheel is going to suck. From what I have read I am pretty sure that I will be able to ride on the reserve at Eglin.

Check out this guys video's. Some are of Boggs and Boulders which is a private park that is OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE for what it is. The others are of the Eglin run which I would like to make this early winter. Still not sure if it is open though.

Yep...I needed a project here when I have a big lull in the intensity of training. My dad will be putting the FJ43 together in Oregon so I figured I might as well do this one here. And if my dad never gets around to that one I will have some practice putting this one together.

I will drive it up there then. Make a good trip out of it.

Darin...yes I do the same thing except I go thru it every 4-5 months instead of years.

The shot of the jeep out on the gulf is the same area they have pics of on the mwr site that I saw.

Let me know when you want to go down there and I will take a 4 day to go check it out. I can schedule to look at some properties while im down there.
The 40 is broken but after this weekend that might not matter.
If everything goes as planned I should be getting something else to wheel with.

Eglin has everyday sand type wheeling.

Alabama has some AMAZING parks. Check out the FATT (Florida Association of Toyota Trucks)...our 4Runner truggy will fit right in...stoked about the move!

Jason,
Let me know as soon as possible the dates you are going so I can plan on my end.

Mylene, are you guys moving?

Yep, sometime late next year.

We still want to go to Harlan a couple times before we do, though - since it'll be a BIT too far once we move. ;)
