Looking to buy a 2011 LX570. 187k miles. Maintained at a Toyota dealership. According to the dealership notes online they replaced the passenger side head gasket. I called and one guy said they revealed the valley plate while in there but notes only showed 1 head gasket replaced. Is this normal? Should I avoid buying this for 18k?

3 very minor accidents in the same spot in the rear. 2 while in their possession. Just a bumper being replaced. Buying from an older couple. Any advice would be great!

I do not see with the many high mileage 3UR-FE’s out there that an head gasket failure is common. I do get why folks with a HG problem end up discussing their issue on this excellent forum for input and repair suggestions. I also can understand after a coolant issue a warped block can result in such a failure. Therefore an unattended valley plate leak and significant drop of coolant level could be part of that. So look for another one.

I will say they said it was only looked at after they smelled something in the engine bay after driving. Nothing overheated. This was from them and the dealership notes.
