I have the opportunity to buy 2 rust buckets ('71, '72) and 1, 50% restored (frame, 1F rebuilt motor, tranny, transfer, axles, diffs, wheels, tires), 1974 FJ40.

I've been told by a parts pro "don't buy them, nobody wants parts from these, they want newer, or older but not early '70s."

Is he wrong? This would be a lot of work for me to transport, store at a remote location, and pull, sell parts.

What do you guys and gals want off of vehicles of this era?

Current owner is a Mudder, so out of respect for him (and his property), I won't include photos here since I've not purchased these from him yet.

Just getting an idea from those looking for parts.

Thanks,

VV

What color is the 74?

It appears to be white. He's wire wheeled a lot of the tub down and there are patches of white in between the bare steel. It appears to be over sprayed though so could have been another color. He has a Frankenstein assortment of stuff - hoods, front fenders. Lots of glass.
