Even though I'm not officially back on board as the club rep, I decided to sit in on the beginning of tonight's meeting. It was awesome. The amount of energy and enthusiasm is way up from last year, and even earlier this year. I was truly sorry I could not stay on the line for the whole meeting; I had a previous commitment to attend a trade association meeting.

There's talk afoot of a e-zine version of Toyota Trails being batted about, along with how to pay for it, and how to offer it to individual members, club members and members of the public.

Take a few minutes to think about this and hopefully we can have our own lively discussion at next Tuesday's meeting.

Tonight's meeting was a doozie. WE've been hashing out the budget crisis [yes, even the TLCA has a budget crisis] for a few weeks now, and coming down to the wire, things got pretty intense.

As the club's representative I was one of four people who voted against the budget. I did so because I did not think it was conservative enough. I feel my views were given full and fair consideration, and intend to continue trying to help the BOD and the TLCA solve this problem.

1. The Toyota Trails has had 8 pages cut for March, and is slated to remain that way for the rest of the year. The editor will still edit and produce the full 64 pages, with the 8 non-printed pages going to the TLCA website as exclusive content.

2. The TLCA adminstrator as voluntarily taken a pay cut for the first half of the year.

3. Several members have stepped forwards with plans to boost membership, so count on seeing some more TLCA visibility in the coming months. A phone campaign to get back recently expired members will kick off this weekend, with 5 core volunteers.

4. Another membership incentive plan is being hammered out to give renewing members the opportunity to take a $5 credit off their next years dues for each new member they bring in, directly rewarding those who support the TLCA.

5. Another suggestion is to make multi-year renewals a default option on the membership app, for those who are just somewhat forgetful.

Ross Woody also made some important announcements about Rubithon. Come to the club meeting for more details.;)

Another member has suggested that as a car club, perhaps we could research a group insurance policy for those whose landcruisers are in the collectible status.
