G'day to all-

On a recent trip I lost my, i guess 2nd for R, OD, and 3rd, so all i had left in my tranny was L and 2.... Damnit. Anyhow, this leaves me with quite a predicament given time constraints and me only having one vehicle. (note: if you see anyone on the clemson campus that's cut up on the embankment in a parking lot to turn around.... that would be me.... without reverse.)

I have 230K on the 3fe and now I guess the tranny is getting yanked down anyhow, could this be the opportunity I have been waiting for?!?!? I have been considering a domestic 6-cyl or 350 convert here for a while. A problem is that I am swamped with work and I do not see myself having the time or patience in the near future to do anything with a transmission.

Does anyone know of a mechanic in the Upstate of South Carolina that would be willing to undertake this task? A reman tranny from toyo, @ Easley dealership, was 4500USD+labor. HAHA. A little pricey given the mileage on my engine may mean replacment sometime soon anyhow...

Is labor going to be an astronomical amount for this type of tasK?

Given gas rpices and my need to drive on mostly heavy construction sites and long distance highway should I even consider the 350? HOw do you think the loss in weight will affect fuel economy?

A mechanic or someone willing and able to do this in the state of SOuth Carolina or Asheville (within 2nd gear driving range)?

Should I just rebuild my tranny for 2G's, quoted from mechanic in pelzer.?

Thank you all in advance,

robby t
