thanks!

I like Nevegals for the sloppy stuff, Hutch pythons when it dries out. I shredded a oair of Maxis Monorails last year and found small block 8's load up too much for where I ride. I did get a pair of Specialized Captains on my 29" SS mounted UST and like them alot, surprisingly light for a 29er.

The best tire I've ever ridden were the Kenda Nevegal DTC 2.1 They rolled very quickly and really hung in on wet off camber rooty rides. The only slight nit pick would be sometimes too much traction going up a wet hill. The knobs would dig in quickly and really force you to put pressure to the pedal to keep the wheels rolling.

After a good month of riding, the rear tire would be worn enough to really honk on the smooth stuff. I liked the Nevegals so much, I bought the UST version for the new wheel set.

Currently on my trail bike I run 2.35 ust Tomac compound(sticky) Nevs. They are the s***. Fantastic traction, very controllable driftablilty, fast in the right hands, surprisingly cheep tire. I kinda shredded my rear last week, however.

On my DH bike I run ust Minions, DHF/DHR. They are awesome, I pretty much don’t notice them, very tough, great traction. I replace them with the same tire when they wear out and have no plans to switch.

Tires of resent memory:

Minion single ply 2.35, crap, super narrow, needs like 40psi to no have the tire fold in corners, not to mention constant pinch flating.
High roller single ply 2.5: same as above, single ply tires are garbage.
High roller DH casting: pretty good tire when it was new. Kinda akward for lighter turns, requires you to lay the bike over to get the side nubs to bite. Side nubs wear and eventually fold and tire does not turn at all anymore.
WTB somesortof rapter: suck, does not hook, super hard compound lasts for freaking ever, I still have this tire and it has been around for like a decade.

I have heard fantastic things about the schwable line of tires, they better be good for their cost.

Maxxis high rollers have worked well for me. Traction is good and they roll well on smooth stuff. We don't generally ride mud here. Lots of rocks and loose soil. They do seem to hold up reasonably well to the rocks, wear is decent too. I use a 2.3 front and rear.

In the past WTB velociraptor has been my favorite but they don't come larger than a 2.1.

The biggest nastiest tires I have ridden are the wtb timberwolfs. They have major rolling resistance which is why I gave them up. They dig in and corner like nothing else I have tried.
