This is a popular topic, however I can't seem to find my answer in any of the preivious threads.
I am looking at puting taller tires under my 85. I saw a post that said 34's with no lift, this seems outrageous. I am thinking 33x9.5 bfgs. Is it possible, what will happen to my off road ability. I don't have the 1600+ for a ome lift, Is there a cheap way to lift it? Body lifts? price? Re arch springs?
Any help appriciated.
Jamie

Not trying to be a pain but Search. Answers are certainly there if you take the time to look. I will anser some of your questions though.

- 33x9.5 BFG's will fit stock your truck will be slower on bottom end, but will get somewhat of an overdrive with the larger tires.
- Cheap lifts include -
Add a leaf (GO for the long ones.)
Extended shackles
Re-arched springs - dont last and most say are not worth the time or $.
Body Lift - most people frown on this but can be OK in moderration. (under 2" and most say only after doing your suspension mods.

You dont have to buy a brand new lift for $1600. I have under $1K in mine and its 4" lift with less that 5K miles on it.

Hope this helps some. But as your firs sentance stated. "this is a popular topic" :)

A low buck way? Long add-a-leafs from MAF (stiffen the ride though) or a combination of parts. I did a 1in body lift (you could do 2 also) from Roger Brown, and extended anti-inversion shackles from MAF. The combination was enough to clear 33X12.50s (which I bought used from a guy going up to 35s). I dont know how much I have in my total lift, but it aint much and it works for now.

Did you have to do any other mods to make it work right on rb's page it says you might have too, the 1" lift and the shakles, I don't understand what the shakles are doing to provide increased height. Sorry but I am new to leaf springs, my previous 4x4 was a 91 toyota extended cab left it stock and it was great.
Thanks

I bought extended shackles which net you half of the over stock lenght as lift. I got about 1in out of my shackles and 1in from the body so about 2in from how it was sitting (not over stock cause I am sure the springs settled).

The 1in body lift went right in, there may be a little work with the 2in. The body lift is a good thing cause the 60 body sits low on the frame I think.

If you are keeping the stock gearing, I think 31's are about right. 33's are a little tall for the 3.73 gearing, but the 9.50's are used with stock suspension by several people on MUD.
