I've had some Les Schwab 255-85-16 about a year and a half ago. The edge treads,, both front and rear, are wearing funny. It is on the inside and outside edge of the tires, all four tires. The rear part of the lug is wearing faster that the fron part of the lug. It is a 93 over 260k miles on it. the tires only have 8k miles on them. The rig has a 2 1/2" ome med with OME shocks. I have noticed more and more vibration in the last 1000 miles. Any Ideas?

Underinflation will cause premature wear on the outside of the tire, so that might be your problem. The vibration is probably due to the tires being out of balance, which is not uncommon on a tall mud tire. The leading edge of the lug contacts the road surface first when driving forward, and likely will wear faster than the trailing edge of the lug.

The proper tire inflation is dependent on vehicle weight and the tire load index. Do a search and you can learn more about getting this dialed in.

Have the tires been rotated, or did this wear occur with them never having been moved?

I didn't notice the wear until a few weeks ago. I did have them rotated 3k miles ago. I'll take them in in the morning and have them balanced. It does seem to be happening on all four corners or maybe just the front wheels as the tires were rotated to the back. These are max load PSI @ 65lbs. Les Schwab only fills them to 35lbs, I have been running them at 45lbs. They seem to have good pavement contact...

At 45lbs, underinflation can't be the problem.

Did you do your lift one peice at a time or did you buy a kit ?

Sounds like the kind of cupping you can get from worn shocks.

do you have CC bushings?

Don't get me wrong, I love a 255/85 tire, but the 255 is on the thin side for an 8" wheel. I would expect ever-so-slightly more wear at the edges (both sides) than the center sections on a 255, but not as drastically as you are saying.
