Just bought a Taco, it needs tires badly, it currently has Toyo open countries on it. I think I'm leaning towards an all season for this truck...
Thoughts and opinions on AT's?
Ice performance, durability and price are the key factors for me.
Discuss...

It has ghey Rockstar wheels...anyone want to trade? ...they might as well be red...

I've had Cooper STT's, I would buy them again. Since then I've ran Interco TrXus M/T's and those are the greatest thing known to man if you daily drive your truck. Amazing offroad, quiet on the highway, amazing on ice, but very expensive.

Edit: I misread your original post completely, thinking you wanted an M/T.

I've got Cooper STTs on my 62, and like them alot. Tyler has them on Troopy. I know Ryan in Ft. Mac was running them on his F350 dually.

Getting towards time for tires on the F250 (Chromeo has well worn Cooper ST Maxx's), and I'm not sure I want something with as aggressive a tread as the STTs on it (most of our leases are pretty tame mud-wise, worried they'll wear fast on a heavy truck, more concerned with on road manners, winter roads and longevity).

Ya I'd run something other than the STT for a daily driver that the family will be in. Trouble is nothing else less aggressive will look right. And you managed to suffer through KM2's which I though were some of the worst winter tires ever. How about a full set of proper winters.... change your life and only have to work once to pay themselves off.

I ran BFG AT's back in the day and was consistently shocked at how good they were on ice and snow. Air'd down they seemed unstoppable in a 6000lb 60 series....

If an stt / open country is too much go with duratracs. Bfg all terrains are good in everything but mud, they clog quick and cannot clean themselves out.

I have a set of 35-12.5 cooper st maxx on my pickup (4300lbs). They continue to amaze me off road and the snow ice traction is great for what they are. I don't use 4x4 in the winter, just lock the rear diff and no issues. Studable as well if you want to go that route. Roughly $1300 for a set of 4 mounted from fountain tire. Just had to wait a few weeks to get them in.

I'm running a Toyo CT on my work truck. A/T with winter rating , siping and semi aggressive. Nice tire and looks good.

Almost every single oil/gas service truck runs Duratracs. I find they are great when new in the winter but all the lugs round off after the first 15k and the difference is very noticable. They do still work well though. Thats my experience in a 5000+kg F350 that sees tons of highway and gravel though, the little Taco will be a bit different.

I have some friends that run the new BFG AT KO2 and seem to really like it. Looks like they siped it more which should help with winter grip.

I went with the BFG KO2's... I've always been a BFG snob. The Toyo's on this thing are making me crazy!! Wow are they loud!

Nice work. I think you'll like em

I have a friend with Ko2 for awhile now. Wearing well, quiet but aggressive look. Should be a good tire. Did they rub?

No rubbing, shaking is almost gone...(upon close inspection my driveshaft center bearing is shot). The tires are nice and quiet. We'll see how they do on ice!

Nice, my death wobble is gone. I think I had a series of circumstances last one being a last minute issue ( my fault though) all good now.

I think I still have a new center bearing from my DC Taco. Can see if I can find it.

Any icy / slick mornings out AB way to test the KO2s in winter road conditions yet?

Not icy yet, but rain/snow mix. Don't worry, it will happen...

We're slated to start getting snow tomorrow night. It's been a pretty nice fall here.

Snow started here Oct 31, it is coming your way! ;)
