tire size + wheel offset 2006 tacoma

Hi there not a new member just new to this forum. i drive an 84 bj60 and my pops has a 2006 tacoma. he just put a 3" lift on it and would like to put some bigger boots on come spring. local shop said they could not get bigger tires on without hitting the fender or control arm. i was just wondering if anyone out there has found a tire size and wheel offset combo that works.

Is he running 16 or 17" wheels? Either way he will need new rims with less back spacing. I think factory is 5-5.5 inches, 4-4.5inches will work. 265/75/16 tires work well for 16" wheels or 275/70/17 tires for 17" rims. Your best bet is to stick to a 7-8 inch wide rim.
