Hello all.

I'd like to have your opinion on what I should do. Yesterday I noticed I have a significant tear on the sidewall of my tire. Tires have 13K on them and have been roatated with diligence. Should I simply swap it with my spare and be on my way or do I need to seriously consider replacing all four OEM Dunlops. By the way, they have never been "off road".

Thanks.

Check to see if covered by warranty! Sounds like a defect to me and I'm sure Dunlop will replace it.

I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow to see if it can be replaced. Tear may have been the wrong term to describe it. Kinda looks like I clipped a charp object or jagged curb, not a clean cut but there are no abrasion marks. Kind of odd.

Could it have been a "pinch" like from running over a curb at a driveway edge. That happened to me once - no scuff mark, just the right kind of pinch between the rim and curb.

good luck.

I would expect some warranty coverage. If not, it depends on the amount of wear on your other tires. If not significantly worn, I would put the spare on and get some use out of it. Most 100s get about 60-70 K miles on their oem tires, so 13K is still young.

A picture would have been great but I've already swapped it with the spare. The dealership said it is out of warranty so nothing can be done there. No biggie, just means I can start researching replacement tires a bit sooner.

Yeah, I would use the spare and just do a 4-tire rotation, then replace all 5 tires in the future.
