Tire Help

Tom B came up with idea of utilizing ratchet straps (multiples) on a deflated tire and seeing if it'll fit in the spare area and packing a compressor.
I crawled underneath my rig today and took measurements of the cavity and looked at the support bracket. A deflated tire is the only way it may fit as your exhaust is on one side and the pan hard bar is on the other, so not much room. Maybe doing some creative metal work or you could just pay for a $2000+ tire carrier. I haven't tried anything yet so NO BUENO

I talked to Mike at BIOR this morning, and he told me that he was working on a tire carrier. I am looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.

Ditto. I kept measuring and remeasuring trying to see how I could cram it all in. The thought of deflating the spare never crossed my mind but does not seem ideal even with air, already on board. Boot space is at a premium with the ARB fridge and according to the Mrs...breast milk is priceless. That leaves the rear tire carrier...I guess it is a good thing my rear bumper is compatible.

The rear bumper tire carrier is not a perfect solution, either, because getting into the back of the truck thru one of those is a PITA.

What about keeping the factory spare, and, if you need to use it, you just limp in with one tire smaller than the others? I've heard some folks say that that is not good for the truck, but I can't see how it would harm anything.
 
It can do some VERY bad damage to the drivetrain (diffs). Don't do it.
 
I'll plan on acquiring one more RW rim and a full sized spare. I don't care for roof-top mounted spares, it won't fit under the truck, and I have no rear bumper carrier. I'll store it in the rear area for now, I guess.

Does anyone do that? Does a big tire fit in there? Do you have to pull the jump seats? Pics?

from my expericance the largest you can go without trimimg much or running into problems on the UCA would be a 275/70 R18 or a 295/65 R18. Pretty sure the 295 on stock wheels kisses the UCA at times!
 
Even a 275/70 R18 will rub at full lock ever so slightly! IMO the 275/70 R18 is the perfect size if you never plan on a lift!

What you have keiten, is what I am planning for my LX. :) I really like the looks of that tire and do not need to go above a 33" here in Idaho. I was able to shove the same size under my 100... just barely. I am hoping that I can do the same with the LX. I may pull my spare from my 100 and try it out.
