Following up from the Interco thread, I have started a Tire Construction Survey. This will better inform potential tire buyers of the tread and sidewall construction details and weight ratings of the competitive tires we buy, use and abuse. See the pdf.
One prliminary conclusion is that regardless of Load Rating (C, D & E) and weight ratings between 2,535 lbs to 3,857 lbs per tire - most tires have 3 polyester sidewalls.
This may suggests that buying a heavier load rated tire may not ensure a more puncture resistant sidewall.
