I have a lead on 5 37x12.50x17 cooper stt tires. Date code is 9th week of 2007. Tires are new and have been stored inside.

Price is 950.

Thoughts on age and price?

DOT regs for over the road trucks is 5 years. However, if they have been stored flat and no sun exposure...they should be good.

I run tires much older than that. Never had a problem even after tens of thousands of miles and years of use on and off road. Price is more than I ever spend on tires, but I don't go that big either.

Age is not all that important. Condition is. Inspect them. You will be able to tell if they have deteriorated.

I have run tires a heck of a lot older than that, many times, with no problems.

One of my buddies rigs out front here at the moment has had the same set of BFGs on it since I met him almost 20 years ago. Getting kinda worn, but no deterioration noticeable and still going down the road just fine when he gets to drive it.

The tires on my 1965 Loadstar are at least 20 years old, and actually, except for one of the ten, seem to be the originals as far as I can determine. Still in great shape (the rig only has 7900 miles on it so they are far from worn out.)

Storing large-ish tires flat in stacks for long term is a bad idea if they are not on rims and inflated. The weight will eventually damage the sidewalls on the lower tires, flexing them inward and cracking/splitting them.

Mark...

Thanks for the thoughts.

I ended up buying them for 850 delivered! That's a good deal for me seeing how a new set of similar tires in the same size would've run me ~$2000.
