So I am confronted with a problem. The tires on my 80 are aged and have pretty bad cracking in the sidewall, these tires are from 2009 and are mudterrains.

I have a set of BFG allterain in my possession that are a good bit older. I think from 2006. These tires look immaculate and have good tread left. No sidewall cracks or any thing. They are just old.

So Should I just swap the older tires on and call it good till I can afford my new tires? Probably sometimes this summer.

Your on borrowed time with either. Rubber gets stiffer with age increasing the odds of belt and tread separation. Visual appearance only tells part of the story. You won't likely find a shop that will mount the older tires.
