I just bought a set of brand new OEM rims for the FJ40 - the retaining clips for the hubcaps are VERY tight. I've pushed and pushed (to the point that I put a dent in one of the hubcaps - thankfully it was able to be pushed back out) - haven't been able to get them on. After the dent, I stopped trying and thought I"d ask here.

Vaseline on the clips?
Graphite?
Rubber mallet?

Anyone have any tips other than bending the clips....

I had a similar experience installing the repro hubcaps on the new wheels for the LV. You'll have to bend the retaining clips to get the hubcaps on. I used a small mallet to bend mine just enough for me to push them on. If you don't bend the retaining clips, getting the hubcaps off to change a flat will be a bear and likely result in damaging the paint on your new rims.

Gotcha.

I'll grab some pliars and squeeze them down a little.

Thanks.

Thanks folks, that was a massive headache for what it was....
