Looking forward to the repower progress :steer:

Stumbled on some old pics for motivation. Stinks that photosuckit has taken hostage so many good pics and videos and watermarked the ones that’s didn’t disappear.

Day I picked it up in 06

Hey @jfz80 do you remember if it was ever re geared or what gears might be in the axles? It looks like on page 1 you said Prillaman ran 38” tires. So maybe it was re geared at some point?

I don’t believe it to be geared or assumed stock 4.10. It did come with some bald beat up 38 gumbo mudders that I replaced with 35s for a season then the 37s for a couple years till I sold it with . But it drove surprisingly well for the 1F 4spd.

That’s the only stock powered cruiser I’ve experienced but it did not seem terrible. Drove i40 to TN 6 hrs and it wasn’t a slug. Actually ran 65 plus until old fort but it held 45-50 on that grade. Rubber overdrive was in affect.

There is the 3 spd gear in a 4spd case I believe that gives a little better low range but that knowledge is getting a little fuzzy.

Now that Lincoln locker masterpiece is impressive…. Until you break an axle. Not sure if Kevin swapped to an open rear carrier or not. He was looking to at one point.

Count the ring teeth and divide by the pinion gear Or the jack up and spin method.

    • Jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it securely on jack stands, ensuring the differential is supported.
    • Put the transmission in Neutral (not running).
    • Mark a spot on the driveshaft and a spot on the tire.
    • Rotate the marked tire one full rotation and count how many times the driveshaft spins.
    • Ratio: Driveshaft turns ÷ Tire turns (e.g., 3.75 driveshaft turns = 3.73 gears).
    • Note: If the opposite wheel spins in the same direction, you have a limited-slip differential; if it spins opposite, it's an open differential, and you may need to block the other wheel or put it on the ground

Had a great trip out to Moab for a couple of days then skiing with the fam. Lexus did great the whole time there and back. Stopped in at the museum also. Day after we got back it decided to blow out a spark plug out of #6 cylinder. So spent a little while getting that sorted and it back on the road. So just now getting back on the pig.
