My wagon has no window tint on the passanger rear window.
The rest of the truck has the old blue tint.
Anybody has any suggestions on how best to remove it?
Im planning on applying a darker tint later on.

Thanks:beer:

You can also spray soapy water, ammonia, or window tint removal spray (sold by auto parts stores, probably one of the two mentioned above) and cover the whole deal with either a garbage bag or saran wrap (to keep the moisture in) and park it in the sun for an hour or two. That should make the entire process easier.

Razor blade, The retractable holders make it easier to grip and get the right angle, let it sit in the sun and warm-up, mineral spirits for glue residue and lots of time

If you look at the grocery store, some Windex has ammonia in it. Thats what I used. Razor first, then Windex.

Windex costs half of what "window tint remover" costs for the same stuff.

the black garbage bag and soaking method really takes a lot of work out of the process. I'd use that, and only go to a razor blade as a last resort, for the time taken and reasons mentioned above. I know a lot of guys that have peeled off whole windows worth of tint, old adhesive included, with that method.

Peel up a corner, hold on to it and used compressed air, the rest should follow easily.

To remove the glue, use "Fantastic" with paper towels, the glue will ball up and come off with ease.

If you use dilutents the glue will just spread around and thin down.

I had tried everything you could have thought of until a window tint guy told me about "Fantastic".

I have to agree with Benji; I pulled 20+ year-old tint off my 60 a year or so ago, and tried all of those things above. My tint was so old that the adhesive had basically turned to rock.

The only thing that really worked all the way through was a razor blade, acetone, and a LOT of patience.

P.S. I still have a big unused jug of ammonia in the garage if anyone wants it!

Did you try Fantastic? It was my last resort after trying everything and I was blown away that it actually worked better than everything I had tried previously.

Just curious.

Acetone is the only way to go ;) ; trust me. I have no experience with Fantastic.

I found Acetone seemed to thin the glue and just push it around smearing it and eventually, after enough elbow grease and rubbing with rags, it came off, but I took the same attitude towards Fantastic as you, thinking, it can't work... you can buy it at the supermarket!!!

Try it before you knock it.

Don't worry, I won't preach about it again after this post, I'm just trying to share the wealth with tips for the brotherhood.
