I have a 2009 FJC with 27k, and i took it to Toyota for oil change. They informed me about oil seeping from my timing chain cover. I asked service guy how bad it was and he said "I've seen people go for 6 months with this problem". Obviously it has to be fixed.

Has anyone else dealt/heard of this problem? If so, is it common/reoccurring? Is the service guy pulling my chain?

No, it is common enough to have a TSB issued for it. They should fix it under warranty; mine was at 92,000 miles (under the extended warranty).

Yes, they will fix under my warranty. it just that i found out about this a couple days prior to my cross-country trip for moving. go figure!!
guess ill just keep an eye on oil level.

You'll probably be OK for your trip. Mine was a very slow seep that eventually made the power steering pump dirty over several months time, but the oil level on the dip stick never visibly went down so it was a pretty slow leak.
