Hey everyone!

So, I’m looking through the car fax of my 2006 LX470 and I do not see a service/replacement of the timing belt around 90 k. I do however see a service/replacement of the serpentine belt at 121k. Are these the same thing? I’m sitting around 143k miles and wondering should I rush over to replace the timing belt? I only got the vehicle last month and want to make sure it’s in top shape.

Thanks for your help!
Larry

Timing belt and serpentine belts are not the same thing. You can check Lexus Drivers to see if there's more details at the 90k or I would even call the dealership since it says "recommended services performed"?

Serpentine belt and timing belt is not the same component. Serpentine belt is commonly changed when doing timing belt service since it is removed at that time anyway.

It looks like on 10/10/14 the 90k service would have been due and carfax states "recommended maintenance performed". It could be that the timing belt/water pump was done at that time.

I'd call the dealership where the service was performed and speak to the service manager. Give the VIN and tell them that you are the new owner. The records on the Lexus system may have a better description of exactly what service was performed.

Check for the sticker, best way to tell if its been done. Mine was on the airbox, some are on the front crossmember, some are on the timing belt cover. Its a little 1x1 silver square.

The dealership I bought it from said that service was done at 90k. But I just wanted to make sure for my self. I did buy it from a used car dealership so I’m not sure how trustworthy their word is.

Where can I find this sticker? What’s the easiest surest way to find out?

All the belt kits that I've ordered have some type of sticker for underhood placement. Now after the work was completed did the mechanic attach it or not....that is the question. I've also had the ink wear off of mine where it was almost impossible to see the mileage/date that was written.

The dealership that performed the service should have it in their records. If no sticker is found that might be the easiest way to ensure the service was completed.

Have you pulled the records from Lexus? You should be able to create an account with your VIN at Lexus Drivers and see the service, if it was indeed done at the dealer.
