Tower of murder baby.
So I've been looking for a place to buy a tre for a 70 series. Specifically the one that goes on the drag link at the steering box.

I'll buy a kit if need be, but I have all the others from a 60 and they're practically new, so I don't really need a whole kit.

Struck out at bumper to bumper, haven't tried lordco but I suspect it'll be the same.

I gather Toyota discontinued them so you need to get a drag link as well from them or something?

Anyone bought 70 tre s*** recently ?

So I called Toyota Nanaimo...dude was actually helpful, he was even surprised I had a vin number to give him.

Drag link assembly....wait for it...

$74X.00

I had to use the x instead of a number because I couldn't hear what he said, I was laughing already.

Safe to say I won't be pursuing that option

Do you have a part number for just the tie rod end that you need? Once you have a part number it would be much easier to source. I use this website to find part numbers as it has all the Toyota EPC pictures. Can also buy part through them too (they are legit). Toyota LAND CRUISER Car & Auto OEM Parts | 38286 I've bought hard to get parts from Amayama and Partsouq too. Whoever has best price and in stock.

I took a quick look, but I don't know the exact year etc. of the HZJ73 frame you're working with. Looking at diagrams for a random HZJ73 I did see a single part number for the whole drag link that goes to the steering box. Was around $200USD before shipping. So along the same lines as what Toyota was telling you. Some of the other models had the part numbers separated out....so worth a look.

It's just generic bj70 steering stuff, but thanks I'll check that site later.

Found a few numbers on that site, seems 4504469085 is the toyota number which crosses over to a 555 se2736. There's another toyota number on there too. 4504460h03.

Funny that the last number there weighs 2.75 kg, where the others are more like .7-1.

So yeah, I could probably order one off there, I don't know if it's worth the hassle tho, I see ebi lists a full kit for 180 ( not that their website has been updated since the 90's  )

And I completely forgot about John again too...

At least I'll have lots of spares...:bang:

I got aa set of 555 60 ends from cruiser outfitters a couple years ago, they came pretty quick. I checked what size parcel it was coming in and max weight then loaded up on a couple other items to take advantage of the shipping cost

Yeah I'm thinking I'll try closer to home this time .

Ordered some bearings and seals from outfitters a month or two ago...got hit with $80 in duties on top of some pricey shipping. Not sure if duties are thanks to that orange piece of s***'s trade wars or just an overzealous bean counter but it kinda took the fun out of it. .

And any incentive to buy from the states, didn't end up cheaper :meh:

Seemed excessive to me for just bearings and seals to have that kind of duty put on them, but you know how well arguing with customs goes.

I shot John an email, failing that, ebi, and the Edmonton guys both list them too.
