Well, when I put on the first spring, I put the full wrap end at the shackle and the bolt/pin for the spring pack was way behind the axle, so I knew (confirmed here and by Paul at TIC) that I had them on backwards. So yes--I'm sure I have the long end from the axle to the shackle, the short end from the axle to the frame hanger.

Geee is this why TIC has changed the part nos. for their 40 series springs? I f@#$%kin' hope not. I'll email Paul.

Any thoughts on the driveline noise?

Thanks,

Re: driveline noise

Yeah, i had the same noise at the same speed afte installing my OME 2.5 " lift with 1.5" shackles. the rumble is a result of vibrations caused my a change in the pinion angle. I ended up taking my rear driveshaft to a drifeshaft specialist and had him put a double cardan join on it. the cardan joint goes on the transfed case end. the thing is smooth as silk now.

btw. people did tell me to try shims first to correct the pinion angle but i felt that the driveshaft mod. was the best solution and it worked for me.

check out bsevans rig for pics of the double cardan joint.

Diesipal-curious as to your situation. how about an update. Are they settling into the proper shackle angle? Of coarse the rear is seating perfect as per the photos.

Well, it's been about 2 weeks now and there hasn't been much change. The nice looking angle I thought was coming out is the left rear shackle angle from cruiser lean/extra weight of spare/me. The right rear shackle is still pretty much the same. It seems like there was a big change at first and now it is on a plateau. I'm considering throwing a few big log rounds in the rear to help settle it faster.

Thanks for the info on the driveline--confirms my suspicions. Can anybody explain this shimming process? $$$ are tight, so if this works as a temporary measure and it's cheaper than a cardan, I'd like to know.
