When I drive over a small pothole or speed bump, there is a pretty solid thud on my way down. The thud is when my front tire returns to the pavement. What is wrong? Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked upper shock nut? Bearings loose? Lug nuts tight? Do you feel it in the wheel? You can learn a lot by just jacking up the front, putting it on jack stands, and pushing/pulling/poking around. ..
