After having my 62 for 11 years I finally need to get this question answered. What the hell is the throttle knob for?

The PTO winch that was never sold in the US. Or, the redneck cruise control.

Practice using it while in park or neutral, don't try it for the first time while in Drive because you might not know how to disengage it or it might stay stuck.

Also handy when winching to get more electrical go-go juice to the battery/winch...

Keeps the RPM's up, instead of at an idle (650 rpms) level.

Think of it as a gas pedal that sticks

You pull it out to increase the RPM....then twist it ccw to disengage it
