It’s a Rube Goldberg design to begin with, so I have only ever focused on tightening up the slop in the linkage.

For return tension, I supplemented the stock system with a generic spring that tensions itself on the lip of the block. Not enough pressure to cause any additional wear on the pivot, but enough to overcome the hesitation caused in part by tightening up the linkage.
