My neighbor is selling this trailer. I dont much about it nor does he. He bought as a small trailer for his landscaping business, but its too small for his needs. It appears to have some type of drop tongue thingy to load lawn mowers etc. I would weld that up.

My wants is a somewhat offroad trailer to haul camping supplies, spare tire, etc. Eventually may put a RTT on it, but leaving it still capable of hauling misc stuff to the dump or general storage.

Inside dimensions are roughly 4x6.5'. 6lug. He is asking $200. Seems like a pretty cheap start from what I have seen around here lately.

THoughts?

Holy cow that thing's low slung.

At a minimum you'll need to flip the axle and do a springover.

The spring itself has very little travel.

The frame looks like it's minimally constructed for off road use.

It might make a nice urban barkdust and yard debris trailer, but that $200 would be better spent towards something better.

Thanks BIO :)

I figured the axle flip and springover. You are correct in there isn't a lot of framing there. Guess I figured with a welder handy could be re-enforced some.

Never seen anything that cried out for a springover...until now:p

The drawbar looks like the weakest part of some shakey stuff.

You'd probably sink $200 worth of metal into getting it fixed up.:D

I think I'd beef it up and throw a 3500# brake axle on it. Weld some additional steel on the tongue and frame where needed. Looks like a nice spring setup, maybe install some shocks too.

200$ is steal IMHO

Good luck

Pat

What are the side and bottom panels made of? they don't look like metal... If you're planning to spend some time building this up then $200 sounds like a good deal. As long as you can get where you want to go with this as the starting point.

For the price it seems like a start. Add another $300 for metal and you will have a good base. Depends on how much you would like to spend to get it where you want it.

I haven't decided yet. Got thrown on a work project that has taken all my time.

Thanks for input.

I just did my taxes... I have spent $1800+/- on my trailer, and that includes beer! I spent $600 on an M416, of which I'm using the frame, the hangars, working around the tub, rebuilt the springs replaced the axle, wheels, coupler, tires, tailgate,... I'm not saying your build is going the same direction mine is, but look at what you want from a trailer and what this has to offer to get you there.

A working yard waste/utility trailer with paint on it is worth $500 all day long in my market!
