You guys have seen a lot more than I have. Would love to find one rust free but this one popped up. 130k miles, 2014 LX570. Should I steer clear or something to live with if the price is right? Everything else is immaculate.

Not a fan of Toyota's rust proofing in the long term, but I don't see anything that would disqualify the purchase for me.

That said, I'd probably do some scraping/wire brushing/painting before too much longer.

Have you examined the service history and number of prior owners? Well maintained?

Is rust an inevitable thing where you live? If so, (to me) this would be acceptable. If you have the option of owning a rig that will stay mostly rust free, I'd search for a cleaner one.

I don’t think things will be falling off this frame, but most future work involving bolts will be difficult. Brake backing plates are a good example of problem areas on rusty 200s.

Solid history, spent first five years in northern states then Florida the last 5 or so. I’d be keeping it in the panhandle as that’s where currently reside. Can’t decide on this for few thousand more than a rust free one with 135k miles. Rust free feels like a smarter option but has close to 50k more miles

To clarify, the other option has 5k or 50k more miles?

To me, those photos don't look too bad for a 4wd truck. It will take a bit of work to get some of those bolts off, but if the price is decent and the vehicle is in good condition otherwise, IMO its worth considering. I've seen much worse, even in the Southern states.

Rough numbers, pre-negotiations. This truck with some rust has 90k miles, owner asking 35k, but should come down from there. Truck 2 has 135k miles, owner asking 30k, but from all accounts almost zero rust. Both interiors are great. Nothing major to report from the PPI's, but haven't inspected either one in person.

135k vs 90 wouldn’t bother me one bit. Mine has over 200 and is tight as a drum.

I’d take the higher mileage with the non rusty frame any day of the week. Mileage doesn’t really kill these machines (if properly maintained). Rust does.

Ok, that’s what I was thinking as well. Plus saving 3-5k can’t hurt. Thanks guys.
