I have toyo open country AT. One failed after around 50,000 miles...The tread separated from the side wall and 1st made a slow leak and then it wouldn't hold air at all. At 12:30 am somewhere in North Carolina. And I had to figure out how to lower the spare.
The other 3 have more than 75,000 miles on them, still have some tread and I have absolutely no issues in the little bit of snow that we have here in the dc area.
My truck is used for maybe 50-60% commuting, 20 % long distance highway , another 20% beach, snow, bouncing in farm fields , really bad logging roads and really tight wet gravel roads with steep drop offs. The farm and the logging road/gravel road (used to get to part of the farm) are red clay dirt that can suck. You in..suck your shoes right off your feet if it's wet...
I wonder if going to the largest tire I can do without a lift or going to a more aggressive tread would be useful or possibly just give a harsher ride.
Any thoughts
