So Im running through ideas for a possible house battery power setup in my 24 volt land cruiser. I want to run a 12v battery in a drawer system in the back and charge off of the running vehicle.
So i have used a victron 24-12 converter for some 12v power things in my truck already (gauges, power point, stereo, w->a intercooler pump) and it works great, so I'll go with a 24-12 victron orion dc-dc smart charger for the house battery running off 4gauge wires fused from the high side battery to the back off the truck house battery. from this ill run a 2000w inverter for ac shiit and run a bluesea fusebox to any 12v powered things such as a fridge, camp lights, diesel heater etc.

The question is, what are things im missing about running this properly. I need some help on the issues that 'i dont know i dont know'
perhaps battery type, sizing the orion for my smaller 3b 24v alternator, other dc-dc charging peculiarities, relays on 12v items, is it better to run a fridge on an inverter or 12v dc ......etc
talk slowly im a carpenter

well, as to battery type, I would definitely go with a Lithium iron phosphate battery and definitely not with a lead acid one. But if you do the former, check the max current out to see if it's sufficient.

On a related note, one thing about the Victron 24/12 smart chargers I'm familiar with, is that they are pretty low power. Like around 250W. So, depending on your load and needs for fast charging, that may be a limitation as well.
