Guys,

Is there anyone with time this Sunday to assist in replacing the rear springs on my 100? I am using the bottle jack method described in the thread below.

Hopefully this will take 1 hour or less. The guys in the thread describe 5 minutes or less per side however I have never removed and replaced springs before. I already coated the lower rear shock bolt and sway bar bolt with penetrating spray.

I can come to your place or we could use my driveway. I have from 1:30 pm until 4pm when the family gets home.

Also, I will be cranking up the t-bars too. I have the springs and tools in my truck ready to go.

I do not a have real floor jack however I have all the other tools and some jack stands.

Thanks,

Andrew

PS - I am in Raleigh, close to Crabtree Valley Mall.

I would really like to borrow the floor jack. When could I run by your place and pick it up? or possibly meet you somewhere?

The spring compressor was not mentioned in the bottle jack thread. I was going to undo the lower shock bolt and sway bar bolt and use the bottle jack between the axle and frame, jack up, remove spring, insert new spring and lower. Reattach and do the other side.

I'd suggest soaking the torsion bar adjusting nuts & bolts with penetrant every day this week. Further I'd suggest doing this at your house. The t-bars bolts can be extremely difficult to adjust and may snap (BTDT). If one does snap, you're not driving anywhere unless you have new ones.

SPring compressors are not mentioned in the thread because the bottom jack method is an alternative to using the proper tools. I have used the bottle jack method before though.

Can i borrow the floor jack and the spring compressors? Also, did I see your LC at Harris Teeter on Glenwood last night?

I need to spray the bolts some more.

Thanks for all the tips.

you may have, I am not quite sure where my 80 has been over the past two weeks, I haven't been driving it.....

Also, I forgot to tell you but I have the T-shirt you ordered for the Fall ride, remind me to get that to you.

I got your message.
