Main line, multi million dollar home with a whole house fire suppression system. Homeowner asked if I could fix the leak.

I told them yes, I can fix the leak. But no, I won't touch it and to get someone who is licensed, bonded, and insured.

Looks like someone has already "fixed" it. I don't blame ya!

Sent from this here eyePad.

great place to put that gate valve handle buried in the dirt , thats some sweet work and engineering right there :hillbilly:

Looks like PEX but transition fitting doesn't look right.

Ya, that's PEX pipe, but the wrong fitting. No wonder it's leaking. I wouldn't touch that either, good call.

That valve needs to be in a weather-tight box. Not sure I've ever seen a water meter that's meant to be buried, either.

The meter was in a concrete box, but the gate valve was buried.

Thats Wirsbo pex. It uses an expanded collar that shrinks back to hold the tubing to the barb adapter.
You need Wirsbo tools to work with the collars. You could cut it back and use a ford fitting and insert. Ford Fittings
Alot of townships around here are going to the meter box at the curb.

I used Wirsbo (Uponor) PEX in my house but I'm not sure about the direct burial capability of the stuff. Is that legit?

I'm looking into plumbing my folks' new house and need to do some under-slab runs. I know they make a double line, sheathed/insulated product but I'm a little suspect of direct burial w/o any protection. In under slab at least, thinking about fishing it through 2" conduit.

I am old school, re under a house slab; soft copper and 10 mil pipe wrap on anything below grade.

I run a lot of pex in slab for radiant and it seems to hold up. For underground water service K copper or 200psi high density poly tubing is whats required by local water authority.
Just did a job last week that was a 280 ft 2" water service that they said I could do poly. They came to do the inspection and said it had to be 2" K copper (a differance of $6000) They said it had to be one piece, well 2" copper only comes in 40 ft lenths so I said I had to do 6 conections underground and they said in that case I could use the poly which was good since I already had it in the ditch.
