Hello,

I'm looking to buying a 98 lx470 with 184k. anything in particular I need to look for. It's a 1 owner car and his mechanic is selling it for him.

any thing major that goes out on these models that year?

You can search around the 100s section for a wealth of information..... there is a thread with every nuance inquiring what to look for when buying.

I don't think there is anything big on this model, but a combination of items left unrepaired can be costly in relation to price of vehicle.

Power steering rack, CV Boots, 90k service and what all was replaced during 90k (idlers, tensioner, water pump, etc), has windshield been replaced properly. another concern could be AHC, if it needs accumulators, could be expensive to repair. With those miles, I'd replace thermostat and heater hose T's right away.

thanks Guys. its located in MD which gets snow. some rust on the undercarriage. not looking to deal with broken bolts when working on the undercarriage. they are asking 6500 for it.

There really is not very much to worry about with the AHC in the first place. There have been about 1000 posts with concerns about AHC for every post with someone actually having issues with AHC. It is both a very capable and reliable system that tends to get a bad rep around here.
